INTRODUCTORY LEVEL WORKSHOP –\u00a013 SEPTEMBER 2013, AM HALF DAY<\/strong><\/p>\n

On 1 December 2012, new regulations for the storage and handling of dangerous goods, Dangerous Goods (Storage & Handling) Regulations 2012,\u00a0<\/em>came into effect in Victoria.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Australian Environment Business Network (AEBN) has designed this workshop to bring you up to speed with the new changes to the regulations.<\/p>\n

The key changes introduced by the Regulations relate to the application of the regulations, in particular – the definitions and terms.\u00a0 The Regulations\u00a0also affect the requirements regarding the – Classification and labelling; Preparation of a Materials Safety Data Sheet (MSDS); Risk assessment and review; External placarding; Register; Incidents; Notification of quantities in excess of manifest quantities, and much more.\u00a0 The Regulations 2012 continue to impose requirements on the same duty holders as the ‘Interim’ Regulations, such as the manufacturers, first suppliers and occupiers.<\/p>\n

Organisations have an obligation to ensure they are up to date and compliant with these changes, and that staff receive appropriate training.\u00a0 The AEBN recommends that staff receive refresher training every 2 to 3 years, and certainly when new legislation is introduced.<\/strong><\/p>\n

NOTE<\/span>:\u00a0\u00a0 The\u00a0Victorian Workshop will cover the Federal and\u00a0Victorian laws and requirements. The\u00a0NSW Workshop will cover the Federal and\u00a0NSW laws and requirements.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This\u00a0Workshop is most relevant to –<\/p>\n

  • personnel who require\u00a0an understanding of the\u00a0changes\u00a0to the new Victorian Dangerous Goods (Storage & Handling) Regulations 2012<\/li>\n
  • personnel who have a\u00a0basic or general understanding of Dangerous Goods Storage, Handling and Transport requirements, and<\/li>\n
  • personnel that require a refresher of dangerous goods storage, handling and transport requirements in Victoria.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    PLEASE NOTE<\/span>:\u00a0\u00a0 It is highly recommended that delegates wishing to attend the Intermediate Level to Dangerous Goods Storage, Handling and Transport Workshop<\/em> are to have a sound understanding of the detail covered in the Introductory Level Workshop<\/em>, which includes the 9 Classes of Dangerous Goods from ADG7 and the Globally Harmonisation System (GHS).\u00a0<\/p>\n

      John is AEBN’s dangerous goods expert.\u00a0 He has a wealth of experience and knowledge that spans well over 30 years in dangerous goods, hazardous substances, risk assessments and management, Emergency Response, Safety Data Sheets (SDSs), training, auditing and consultancy, in particular, within the Australian and Asia Pacific Region’s chemical, plastics, mining, textiles, food and agricultural sectors.\u00a0<\/p>\n
