DESCRIPTION:Scroll down for program and details \nPresented by the  \nAustralian Environment Business Network (AEBN)\n \n\n25 NOVEMBER 2015 \n8.45am for 9.00am to 3.00pm\nMELBOURNE \n\n\n \nFrom 1 January 2017\, the Globally Harmonized System for Classifying and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) will be mandatory in NSW\, QLD\, SA\, TAS\, ACT\, NT and Commonwealth jurisdictions.  It is already acceptable in VIC and WA\, and a large number of Australian companies are adopting it now.\nA 5 year transitional period\, that will expire on 31 December 2016 has been provided by Worksafe Australia for companies to implement the new system.   \nAnyone who deals with chemicals will need to be aware of this new system to understand its relevance and your obligations\, and we encourage you to attend this informative Briefing.  \nWhat does this mean to your business? \nAfter 31 December 2016\, all workplace hazardous chemicals MUST be classified and labelled according to the GHS under the Model Work Health and Safety (WHS) Regulations. \nThis means a number of products that are at present classified as ‘not hazardous’ under the old NOHSC Approved Criteria (AC) can now be classified as ‘hazardous’ according to the GHS criteria under the WHS Regulations. \nThe Model Work Health and Safety (WHS) Regulations legislate the use of the GHS system for the classification and labelling of chemicals.  The GHS is an internationally recognised system of classification and labelling of chemicals that has been developed by the United Nations (UN) committee to communicate information about hazardous substances and chemicals on safety data sheets and labels. \n  \n\nProgram\nThe Australian Environment Business Network (AEBN) has developed this half day Briefing to provide you with an understanding of – \n\nYour obligations under GHS\nThe relationship between GHS\, Australian Dangerous Goods (ADG) Code and the NOSHC Approved Criteria (AC)\nThe GHS and its adoption in other countries\nThe Model Work Health and Safety (WHS) Regulations and their adoption throughout Australia\nThe GHS supporting documents\nThe Safe Work Australia supporting documents\, including Codes of Practice\nThe new GHS classifications and pictogram diamonds\nThe terminology used under GHS\nExamples of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) under GHS\nExamples of labels under GHS\nAssistance available to businesses.\n\n\n\nWho should attend?\n\n\nAnyone who manufactures\, imports and  markets hazardous chemicals\nAnyone who works with hazardous chemicals including stores personnel\nAnyone who transports hazardous chemicals\nAnyone who deals with chemicals will need to be aware of this new system to understand its relevance and your obligations.\n\n\n\nLearning Outcomes\n\n\nUnderstand the legislation requirements of chemical management in the workplace\nIdentify GHS Hazard Class and Categories for Hazardous Chemicals\nIdenify and interpret key safety information and terms with Safety Data Sheets (SDS)\nIdentify and interpret key safety information and terms within GHS product labels.\n\n\n\nPresenter\n\nAdrian Thomas \n \nHazardous Chemicals Specialist
