Electric vehicle technology continues to advance, thanks to manufacturer, Tritium who has designed a fast charger – Veefil. Veefil has been designed to charge electric vehicles to 80% capacity within 30 minutes.
Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change, Industry and Innovation, Yvette D’Ath said “reducing the charge time of an electric vehicle from 8 hours to less than an hour is a game changer and will be a major boost for the electric car industry.”
The Veefil could be rolled out to hotels, carparks, airports and shopping centres, allowing easy and fast turnaround times on charging.
To assist with the development of the fast charger, Tritium was assisted with $1.15 million funding under an Early Stage Commercialisation grant, through Commercialisation Australia (CA). Tritium also received support from an experienced CA case manager who helped guide the company through the commercialisation process and make important business connections.
“When we established CA, our goal was to help entrepreneurs turn their good ideas into commercial outcomes and here we have living proof of a leading edge technology being brought to market,” Ms D’Ath says.
